Bruker GenoType mycobacteria genotyping assays
European reference method for MTB complex and mycobacteria genotyping
Bruker’s GenoType mycobacteria genotyping assays detect more than 20 genotypes with a single strip. The assays are based on a proven DNA hybridization method. The assays are designed mainly for cultured mycobacteria colonies. Additionally, there are some kits that are validated for direct specimen.
There are totally seven different GenoType assays that can detect and specify mycobacteria types as well as their gene mutations causing antibiotic resistance:
- MTB complex and the mutations associated with first line antibiotic (RIF, INH) resistance, and the respective wild-type genes
- MTB complex and the mutations associated with the second line antibiotic resistance, and the respective wild type genes
- MTB complex and more than 20 Non-TB (NTM) mycobacteria species
- NTM mycobacteria species that are not so common, however clinically relevant 19 species
- Most common NTM (M. avium complex, M. abscessus complex, M. chelonae) mutations related to antibiotic resistance
