Quantra viscoelastometer

Easily and quickly determine the cause of bleeding

Quantra, manufactured by American Hemosonics, delivers clinically meaningful results in an easy-to-understand form for the treatment of a bleeding patient within 15 minutes of sampling. Designed as a point-of-care diagnostic test device, Quantra is extremely easy to use and can be placed in close proximity to the patient.

Closed test cartridge, no pipetting

The method does not require any pipetting, as all analyses are performed in a closed test cartridge. With the remote display system, the analysis results are also available in real time at other hospital sites, and the completed results can be automatically transferred directly to the patient data system (LIS/HIS) using standardised communication protocols. The results relevant to the treatment decisions of the viscoelastic analysis are presented in a few numerical parameters.

Accurate and reproducible method

In contrast to methods based on rotational thromboelastometry or graphics, the Hemosonic Quantra measurement method is based on sample resonance at ultrasonic frequencies. The method is accurate, repeatable and sensitive even with weak clots. The cartridge-based, pipetting-free method provides essential information on the contribution fibrinogen and platelets make to the clot quality, and the effect heparin and coagulation factors have on the coagulation rate in less than 15 minutes. Alternatively, hyperfibrinolysis can also be demonstrated easily and reliably.

Better treatment outcomes and cost savings

Major bleeding as a result of surgery, trauma and birth is a challenging situation for which prompt and properly targeted treatment requires accurate information on the underlying cause of the bleeding: whether it is surgical or some form of haemostasis disorder. Properly targeted and timed treatment reduces complications, improves treatment outcomes and brings cost savings while avoiding unnecessary treatments.
