Savanna is a new, small RT-PCR instrument from QuidelOrtho (USA) that is suitable for point-of-care testing. Savanna provides results directly from the patient sample in less than 25 minutes. Instrument is used via a touchscreen and it can analyse one sample at a time. Qualitative results are easy to interpret as Positive / Negative. In addition, Ct values and amplification curves can be checked. Results can be printed or sent directly to LIS.

The instrument is CE-IVD marked.

SARS-CoV-2 -coronavirus, flu A and flu B virus, or RSV can cause similar symptoms and identification of the causing virus may be needed. Savanna RVP4 Assay for testing people with signs and symptoms of respiratory tract infection (CE-IVD):

  • results in less than 25 minutes
  • analysis directly from patient sample tubes UTM (Copan) or Quidel TM.
  • test kits are stored in +2 – +30 °C.

NEW: Savanna HSV 1+2/VZV Assay

Test detects herpes simplex virus type 1, herpes simplex virus type 2, and varicella zoster virus DNA isolated from human cutaneous or mucocutaneous lesion samples.
