T-SPOT.TB tuberculosis test
Early phase tuberculosis detection in all patient groups
T-SPOT.TB reliably detects M. tuberculosis infection in the early, sub-clinical phase. The test is sutable for all patient groups, but especially for immunocompromised patients, elderly and children. The test also identifies latent tuberculosis. This test is a form of IGRA (interferon-gamma releasing assay) and is performed from a standard heparin blood sample.
In the T-SPOT.TB test, potential interfering factors are eliminated and the number of mononuclear cells is standardized to minimize biological variation. Each gamma-interferon producing cell can be counted. This enables a highly sensitive and specific analysis, even for clinically asymptomatic patients for whom conventional tuberculosis diagnostic methods are not sensitive enough.
Automating the test
The test can be automated with the Auto-Pure 2400 liquid handling automate: The device reads the primary tubes and dispenses both the samples and the reagents.
